Ace Collins writes ....

Every six seconds somewhere in this world a child dies of either starvation or a disease that could have been treated with just a few cents worth of medicine. Think of that for a moment . . . every six seconds a child dies needlessly.

Put yourself in this situation. Imagine for a moment you are standing alongside a deep gorge. At the top of this gorge there is a line of small children that goes on as far as you can see. Each child stares down into the deep, dark abyss that is thousands of feet below. At the head of a line a shadowy figure steps behind the first child and pushes him into the chasm. This figure doesn’t even bother to watch the child fall to his death before he steps behind the next one and pushes her into the abyss. This action continues every six seconds with more and more children falling to their deaths.

What would you do if you witnessed this scene? Would you allow it to continue or would you step forward and try to prevent at least a few of these children from falling?

Let’s put this into another perspective. September 11, 2001 is a day that still haunts Americans. One solid number placed on the deaths from the terrorist attacks is 2,550. This was such a great and sobering tragedy that it is hard for us to imagine it even today. Yet in just over four hours time that many children die due to causes that we could easily correct. Sadly, none of us blink an eye as this continues second by second, minute by minute, day by day, week by week, month by month and year by year. We are not on the trail of their killer. The news media is not saturating the airwaves with the story. Few sermons are being preached on the subject. Yet every six seconds another child needlessly dies while almost everyone turns a blind eye to it.

None of us can save all these children. We don’t have the means to yank them all back. Yet if all us who could would save just one, we could stop this needless death.

I support a dozen third world children through an organization in Dallas known most commonly as WME. For $25 a month you can provide food, clothing, medical care, an education and a home to one child. So therefore, for just 84 cents a day you can pull a child away from the edge of the abyss and give them life, hope and security.

There are many groups that are saving children around the globe and they are easy to locate on the web. But if you would like to make your life-saving move through an organization I trust and support, one that I can guarantee will use your gifts to actually save a specific child, then click on the link below and get involved in slowing down and maybe one day stopping this horrible clock of death.

All the children shown on this page have become a part of the WME child sponsorship program. These are actual shots of children that have been saved. You can have a photo of the child you save if you will act now. Click on the link above and get involved in saving a child.
